The Government appointed the Compensation
Advisory Committee to advise on the appropriate levels
of compensation for injuries related to childhood abuse.
The group, which was chaired by Sean Ryan S.C., included
experts from the fields of law, psychology, psychiatry
and social work. They reported to the Minister in January
2002. The Committee issued a detailed report, which
has commanded widespread support from all interested
